I'm slightly worried because I invited 18 people under the assumption that 1/4-1/2 of them would show up (historically this has been pretty average because grad students are ridiculously busy people) but it's starting to look like I may need to buy some more flour It's about a cup of flour per pizza. (luckily I had a trial version of this party where 3 people cancelled last minute which as it turned out was a really good thing because I barely had enough dough for the 4 people who showed up. It'll be fun. It's a reason to clean my apartment. I probably should have finished writing this proposal before I cleaned said apartment but it's all good.

Star I hope you don't have more people than you can handle. 18 sounds like a lot!!! It really sounds like a fun idea, here's to pizza parties!!!

I keep thinking her hair color is gorgeous too but instead of saying or asking anything I've just been debating what color it is. I think I liked the mystery of it, was a good distraction lol.

The pizza party ended up being a disaster. The pizza itself was good. I ended up with four people from my program three of whom are just kind of hardcore partiers. So the first girl from my program and one of my best friends here so far (from a different department) showed up around the same time and it was lovely and then the other three rolled in (still hung over from being drunken idiots last night. Which I do not appreciate. It was someone's birthday and so we went over to one of the three's apartment to eat dinner and then drink a bit and head out to the bars (I was going to leave after dinner but when they were already drunk and then downed a case of beer between like 4-5 of them in about half an hour and then got high on top of that and were like "it's time to go out man" and they only had one reasonably sober person with them (and she is small and unconfrontational) I was like dammit I have to go with these idiots and make sure they don't drive home or hurt themselves so I had to stay up with her herding them around she very much appreciated it because at the end of the night she was like "oh I did not got it on my own, I'm really glad you didn't go home, and I was like yeah, I thought you could use the backup".) anyways incoherent nonsense/backstory aside, the three core of the party hard group rolled in and the room just went unwelcoming toward my actual friend who like cares about things and has priorities and tries in school. Like you know how sometimes you can feel that you're not welcome in a room. it was just rolling off of them. And then they like physically moved the group away from my actual friend. I do not appreciate their rudeness and while I know that this is extreme, a bad idea, and nonenforceable (since I have classes with and will likely have to collaborate with these people in the future) I'm about ready to just never speak to any of them again. Realistically I think it's just time to put some intentional space between me and them. It was nice to be invited to the party. I normally don't get invited to parties. I remember now that I detest parties and so I befriend non party people. I'm trying to be fair to them, but I just don't want to be nice to them if they can't be bothered to be decent. (it's unattractive at best to be so drunk you can't hold food and don't remember how you got home (I herded you home. That's how you got home) but to then be annoyed with other people for not being drunk enough. So uncalled for. I guess they're just getting comfortable enough to relax into their native states. I just wish that for once I could get the friend group right early on instead of having to almost completely replace them after some group I'm horribly incompatible with has decided I'm one of them because it's always awkward to disentangle yourself from people who think you belong with them but sort of drive you crazy. (what can I say I am and always have been a goody two shoes with a lot of anxiety)
