True or False? A Basilisk’s gaze is the only way it can turn you to stone.

A: False. While the process can be accelerated by eye contact, a Basilisk needs only to use its teeth or tail tip in order to start the process.
B: False. The superstition that it can turn you to stone is only a myth brought about by the fact these serpents enjoy chiseling rock into statues with their tail. A Basilisk’s territory is often decorated similar to a garden. The poor things just want people to enjoy their art!
C: True. Mirrored shields are almost a must when hunting a Basilisk as when it stares at you through a reflection, its gaze holds no power.
D: True. A Basilisk’s stare is so powerful it has to look away from any prey it’s hunting in case it turns to stone, robbing the creature of a meal.
