Pickles McWidget has decided to try out being a boy for a while. Luckily their birth name has an easy male equivalent.

Ah, gotcha, Demyx. Like I use Kid-a-roo for mine.

The offspring has many nicknames. Of the ones that aren't related to their legal name, "Widget" is probably the oldest, dating back to roughly the day they came home from the hospital. It rhymed with "fidget". I don't remember where "Pickle" and its variants came from.

@Demyx @FireLilly , I was Sam from day one, because Dad had wanted a son. I spent many years getting rid of that nickname, and refuse to answer to it anymore. Of course I'm called so seldom that I don't really answer to Tammy either!

when i was a kid, i hated the spelling of my name, but when i got to college i decided that "Caren" was kinda cool.

i've since learned (over the last many years, the last bit i only learned a few months ago) that my parents wanted to name me something with a C, but my dad didn't like the name Carol - it reminded him of an ex, i think..... but what i just learned was that my parents wanted to name me for my grandmother's mother, but "Clara" was too much of an old-timey sounding name, and it was the 70s after all. (i also wonder how much more i would have gotten picked on when i was little?)

and now with all the Karens out there, i'm glad i can say i'm Caren.... with a C.

@trystan. I like the name Karen, and kind of hate that they've made it into an insult.

Also... I don't know how much longer I'll be on Faenaria now that it's white writing on black. That layout just hurts too much for me to read.

all the sites that i know that have dark mode also have a swtich-back option. but i love dark mode. my LJ (remember those??) was dark mode before dark mode was a thing!

Yeah, my light-sensitive eyes naturally prefer Dark Mode. It's easier for me to look at than bright white.

@trystan , LOL My main social site now is Dreamwidth, which is LJ's non mutated child.

@Demyx , it's funny, my eyes are excruciatingly light sensitive, but it's the white writing on black that causes me pain and afterimages. And headaches. But the light mode here has a lot of pale grey. That's nice, for me.

Tam, i have a livejournal, insanejournal, and a dreamwidth. where am i? facebook and Instagram. oh, and ravelry. and a few other forums too. my twitter is kinda neglected though.

Livejournal got painful to my eyes, InsaneJournal chased me off with the ads. I don't have FB anymore, and I've never had Instagram or Twitter, to my knowledge. There was a Tumbler sometime, but that site bugged me. My Space is long gone. I had journals on some of the other LJ clones and blog sites, but as far as I know, those sites have gone the way of the dinosaurs too. Then I'm on some forums, dw, and YouTube. *stops and is mesmerized by your little egg whacking guy for a moment* Oh, and Google hangouts.

I got a custom mousie sculpture and an adorable fluffy baby buffer dragon today. Baby dragon is currently going by "Hug Newton", but we'll see what sticks. It arrived in an egg. Pictures will happen, Lw, when my guts stop screaming and being divas.
