I spent the first part of today (it was nearly eleven before I got up) crocheting the body of a mushroom sprite. And I FINALLY understand the gill instructions! They're so clearly written, I can't believe I got a mental block about them. I need to buy the artist a coffee or something for all the patience she had trying to explain it to me.

when i first started crocheting, i'd read the pattern before I worked it, and I was having trouble visualizing what one of them was telling me to do. i was making a row of triangles for scales down the back of a dragon. the pattern designer suggested I read it while I work it at the same time, and if I still couldn't get it, to let her know. turns out, I figured it out as I did it step by step, so I could see what the yarn was going - rather than trying to "see" it in my mind first. even now, whenever the partner confuses me, I just pick up the yarn and hook and do it one step at a time, and most of the time it works!

I was just overlooking the punctuation marks between the abbreviations. It was like I couldn't see them at all. *shakes head at self* I'm not sure if the method you recommend could have helped in this case, because it didn't include kicking me gently in the head to make me see straight.

BUT. The artist is making a SECOND shroomie pattern! One with all the same body, but with all kinds of caps, arms, and legs options. I am so excited.

I stg sometimes I deserve a trophy for trying to put up with my mother. I tell her "the Widget has finally worked up the courage to use the boy's room in public places now!" and her whole response is "BUT CHILD MOLESTERS". Like he's not statistically more likely to be molested at her house than in the Walmart restroom. But God forbid she ever just be happy for her grandson.

i don't know if y'all remember I have two daughters? they were on the Uni sites - my older one went by sweepea or 0825 - she'll be 24 in august!! my younger daughter wasn't on all that much, I think her name was meg0601, she was just 20 at the beginning of June! where tf does the time go??

@trystan IKR? Delivered a pair of mushroom sprites and their baby yesterday. And then last night I crocheted a doll dress for the Tiny Doll Baby I got the kit for from Etsy.

@trystan He's five. I don't know how many people have tried to tell me he's "too young to know", but honestly, if a five-year-old cis boy was walking around saying "I want to wear boy clothes and be called 'he' because I'm a boy", literally none of them would question it.

I just learnt about all the church burnings and statue bustings in Canada. One of those happened in a satellite city to the one I live in. I don't feel good.
