my week so far has been pretty good. i do wish the manager at my weekend retail job would make up her mind about my time off request for Halloween though. it's been submitted, with no reply one way or the other yet. *sigh* maybe next week I'll text her that I'm doing something for Samhain and I do need the time off.

I'm feeling the autumn aches. And feeling a little frustrated with a crochet pattern.

Yeladim - we CAN dress in "family-friendly" costumes. BUT (a) I've texted her and said that I have a Samhain celebration on the 31st and (b) I've changed my availability from 2-8 p.m. to earlier in the day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - this way, if I DO end up working, I can still "go to my Samhain celebration" and - when it gets further into the holiday season and we start closing later, I better not be scheduled. and I'll fight them if they try to schedule me earlier than 10 as well
also, I do have a t-shirt I'm going to wear if I'm scheduled anyway - it says "this IS my costume"

Yeeeah, I've been trying to see if anyone would let me make the dragon for them, but so far I've had no bites. LOL

On my pattern, it's a mermaid scarf, just a flat one. But it's made in a variation of the shell pattern that has three dc in each shell, and the way the instructions go I keep winding up with the fabric going diagonally with a scallop edge on one side of it, which is NOT what the pictures of the finished scarf shows. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, since I'm doing what the words on the paper say. I bought the pattern on Etsy, but this is it. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mermaid-scarf-8 I sent a note on Etsy to the artist the day before yesterday, but she hasn't replied yet.

Yeladim - isn't it? and yep, I'll be wearing it..... BUT I'm working 10 - 1:30 that day... maybe 2, we'll see how it goes.

Still haven't heard from the designer. Looks like I'll have to look for help on Ravelry. Even if the artist doesn't reply, there are other people there who have made scarves from the pattern, and maybe one of them can help me.

I'm thinking of bringing a five foot tall rag bunny to the market around hollobean time and telling everyone that I got shrunk.

@trystan , I've posted on Ravelry now. When I get back from the dentist I hope to show the ladies who replied what part is confusing me.

@Yeladim , I don't even like hollobean (though I like calling it the cute name ET called it), but it's FUN to think up some silly and slightly lame costume. Last year I went to market with my hooded unicorn bathrobe for a jacket, and carrying the Build A Bear unicorn doll. I told people I was a Mamacorn.

Speaking of dolls, I got the little vintage baby doll today, and she even still squeaks.

Mr. Littledude dressed up in a suit to go to school for Best Dressed Day, and he was named one of the best dressed and got his picture taken with the principal!
