@Yeladim Trust me, I'm more concerned about the fact that my brother (a former EMT) and his wife (a medical examiner) have chosen not to vaccinate their kids than about the fact that the whole family isn't getting together. Honestly, if I hadn't already agreed to go before I found that out, I wouldn't be going either.

I didn't feel the needle the second time either. Was too scared at the time to remember if I felt the first time.

I'm STILL getting messages from all sides haranguing me to get vaccinated. I'd like to shove my QR code up their noses.

I wish everyone a peaceful and happy Thanksgiving, whether you spend time with a large family, small group of friends, or even take time to video chat with those who are far away. Take time to think about those people who you are thankful to have in your life, and if you plan on having a feast, don't eat too much, although that is always wishful think for me, at least.

So...my brother - the one who hasn't vaccinated his kids - called nice and early this morning to say that he's lost his sense of smell and had a positive at-home COVID test. My immediate family and I promptly backed out of Thanksgiving. My parents decided to go ahead anyway. They were supposed to babysit His Little Highness this weekend so I could work and my husband could attend his monthly LARP. Guess what else isn't happening this weekend now?

@Tam_I_am Post-apocalyptic. He's actually a writer for his local group, and had a couple mods planned that he was pretty enthusiastic about. Alas, since weekends are The Worst time for me to try to call out of work, he opted to sacrifice his LARP weekend rather than risk HLH spending the weekend with his potentially infected grandparents.
